Marvel has been strangely (or not so strangely) quiet about the actual villain in Captain America: Civil War thus far: Dr. Helmut Zemo, 13th Baron Zemo. Dr. Zemo, portrayed by Daniel Brühl (Rush, The Fifth Estate, Inglorious Basterds), is the son of Dr. Heinrich Zemo. The senior Baron Zemo, in the comics, was a top Nazi scientist whose sadism and belief in white supremacy was passed down to his son.

While we can likely expect to see Zemo don his classic purple mask in some form or fashion, for now all we’re getting is the good doctor (cough) in plain, civilian clothing as seen below (featured in Entertainment Weekly’s Summer Movie Preview) via Comicbookmovie.com.

Brühl arguably stole the focus in Rush as Formula One racing legend, Niki Lauda, from Chris Hemsworth (James Hunt) with his incredibly stalwart yet humble demeanor. Thus he will likely bring some quiet menace to this villain much as Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and James Spader (Ultron) did for their characters. Gentle evil is always so much more effective.

Just something to think about, Ben Solo.

Captain America: Civil War is about divided friendships over conflicting morals and the difficult reunion between old friends, however so much focus has been given to those two plot points that many have forgotten there is a whole other tendril with actual villains: Baron Zemo and Crossbones (Frank Grillo). Because of that we’re not too sure what role Zemo and Crossbones will play in the scheme of things, but rest assured they’ll be badass and terrible when they do.

Captain America: Civil War, in theaters May 6, also stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Paul Bettany, Emily VanCamp, Chadwick Boseman, William Hurt, Martin Freeman, Marisa Tomei and Tom Holland.
