Ubisoft and Scholastic announced this morning a collaboration to make a young adult book series based off of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series. Last Descendants is a new series of books set in the world of the best selling video game franchise.
Staring a new group of modern day teenagers who find themselves caught in the ongoing feud of Assassin’s and Templars, Last Descendants follows hero Owen in his journey to find a legendary piece of Eden, clear his father’s name, and relive the past through his ancestor’s eyes.
“Collaborating with Scholastic combines our shared passion for storytelling and using history as our playground to bring a new story to life,” said Aymar Azaizia, Head of Content at Ubisoft. “The Last Descendants book series represents a great opportunity to further develop the Assassin’s Creed universe in a way that appeals to both newcomers and existing fans.”
Written by award-winning author Matthew J. Kirby, the first book in the upcoming series will be released in September 2016, with a follow up sequel set for January 2017.
Ubisoft has previously announced no new Assassin’s Creed game will be released in the main game series in 2016, as the company is currently reevaluating the series as a whole.
