Tumultuous times are still upon the ever-expanding DC Extended Universe. While WB’s superhero franchise has been on the receiving end of some positive news as of late, namely Aquaman and the Green Lantern Corps moving forward, all hasn’t been so great on the Gotham front. Ben Affleck’s status as director of the tentatively titled The Batman spent many months in a realm of uncertainty. However, both he and the studio have released statements officially confirming he won’t be helming the project. Following the actor’s recent admittance of the stress and frustration involved in making the film, in comparison to his work in the past, his stepping down is understandable. But there are certainly other factors involved in the decision, as well; here, we’ll posit them one by one.
