2018 looks set to be another great year for comic book movies, and now 20th Century Fox have added to the slate. Confirmed so far, are three Marvel releases; Black Panther, on February 16, 2018; Avengers: Infinity War, on May 4th, 2018, and Ant-Man and The Wasp, on July 6th, 2018. Added to that, comes Sony Pictures’ Venom movie, which will release on October 5th, 2018, and their animated Spider-Man movie on December 21st, 2018.

Now 20th Century Fox have joined the line-up, announcing release dates for three of its most highly anticipated movies, all of which feature Marvel’s X-Men characters. First up is the Josh Boone directed New Mutants, which will arrive on April 13th, 2018. After that, Ryan Reynolds will reprise his Merc with a Mouth, when Deadpool 2 arrives in theaters on June 1st, 2018. Finally, 20th Century Fox will round out their year with X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The release dates were confirmed via Box Office Twitter:

In all, that means that (so far) there will be a comic book movie, featuring Marvel characters, in eight out of the twelve months next year. Could there be anything better? In terms of potential success, we can easily expect all of the MCU offerings to perform well, and the same for Venom, but New Mutants and Deadpool 2 could be the ones to watch, since anticipation for both movies is already high.

Boone’s New Mutants focuses on the first group of Professor Xavier’s superhumans, and will be based upon the comic book of the same name. Casting is not yet confirmed, though it is strongly rumored that James McAvoy will once again reprise his role. There is also a rumor that his Split co-star, Anya Taylor-Joy, will be playing one of the New Mutants.

Meanwhile, Deadpool 2 will feature the aforementioned Reynolds, alongside Josh Brolin as Cable. The R-rated comedy is set to go into production very soon, and will film alongside New Mutants. Certainly Boone is going to need to run a tight ship if the movie is going to be ready for its release date in less than a year.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix, is rumored to go into production this June, focusing on Jean Grey becoming possessed by the powerful, genocidal Phoenix force. Though director Simon Kinberg has consistently played down rumors of the Dark Phoenix storyline being explored in X-Men movies, the title is something of a major giveaway.

With all these comic book movies set to release next year, you’ll know where to find us. Bring popcorn.
